Welcome to the PEB forums and to PEB as a whole, Tom!
Make Like A Tree comics produce some really great titles, I suggest that everyone here should check them out .
Thanks for the kind feed back on my work, Tom. I hope you can enjoy it all the way. |

I love Peb's chin. And the very first panel, showing the skewed perspective of the building... that drew me right in. |

Cool stuff! I get a few people telling me they don't like Peb's chin, so to hear that someone does like it balances things out for me
I love drawing 'skewed perspective'. If you want to see a master at work (and my main influence for the style of perspective) then check out the work of Bill Tiller. His site billtiller.com has not been updated for some time, but he has been very busy setting up a new company called Autumn Moon Entertainment. I'm very much looking forward to the release of their first title A Vampyre Story.
If anyone has played The Curse of Monkey Island then they would be familiar with his work.
The first panel was very important to me. I wanted to show my favourite style of perspective, focus in on Peb from a small shot of a large city, and pretend to answer the reader's question when first hearing the title of the comic: 'A Private Eye Butterfly?' Peb is in a way answering that question but more in response to the way characters ask the same question in his world.
Great to hear that you like the opening of PEB. When I started it I wasn't really sure how to start it. How was I to introduce Peb Casey? Give a bit about his background and what he does? No.
So that's how I started it . I started to find ways in which the reader can get to know Peb without giving it all away. And one great way to introduce a character is to have them interact with another character. That's how Belinda Membrane was created.
Anyway I should really be talking about this stuff in the Detective Notes forum but hey, I'm the Administrator, I can do what I like but if you want to talk about the comic more then I'd suggest posting there. |
